2021 Sinica Open House
After a year of anticipation, the finest science carnival in
Taiwan -- Academia Sinica Open House -- is ready to go! This year will be the first time that all
activities take place online, so you can watch popular science talks and learn about our latest research
without having to leave the comfort of your home.
Due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, all Academia Sinica Open House activities will
be hosted on the Internet, allowing people to take part from home. In addition, this year’s Open
House will last for four days spanning two weekends: October 30-31 and November 6-7. Hundreds of events,
including dozens of talks in the fields of mathematical sciences, life sciences, and human and social
sciences will allow visitors to interact with researchers online. For our eagerly anticipated Keynote
Speeches, six humanities and social sciences researchers from the recently published book Reflections on
COVID-19 will provide different perspectives on how the pandemic has impacted human society. ...
Academia Sinica currently has 24 institutes and 8 research centers in 3 different divisions: Division of Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Division of Life Sciences, and Division of Humanities and Social Sciences. In addition, the Council of Academic Sinica, Central Administrative Office, and Central Academic Advisory Committee have been established to formulate research plans and promote scholarly collaboration at home and abroad, as well as manage academic administration.
There are three central objectives at Academia Sinica: 1) Achieve global peaks of excellence; 2) Fulfill social responsibilities in crucial areas; and 3) Attract and cultivate top talent. We aspire to contribute to society from an academic perspective by targeting key issues and nurturing research talent to achieve excellence.
