Three activities are included in this event.
1. Introduction: Using our lab’s experiments as examples to introduce the benefit of using drosophila melanogaster for gene research. We will focus on markers and ovaries.
2. Observation: Let the students observe markers, such as white/red eyes, straight/curly wings, eye shapes, and ovaries using a dissecting microscope.
3. Activity: a. Let students draw the assigned markers on an empty drosophila cartoon. b. Let students to circle the position of germaria on the ovary schematics and identify the sites of germline stem cells in a germarium using stickers.
