2024 Academia Sinica Open House

Since 1998, Academia Sinica’s annual “Open House” event has become highly anticipated for science enthusiasts and an important opportunity for the public to learn about its research achievements.
The “Open House” event is held in October and features hundreds of activities, such as science lectures, laboratory tours, poster exhibitions, interactive experiences, arts and crafts, and family games, catering to a wide variety of visitors.
Starting in 2023, “Science Day for Kids” features interactive activities categorized by age groups, allowing children to experience the joy of science through games. In 2024, with the Academia Sinica South Campus (ASSC) established in Tainan, the “Open House South Campus” events will be hosted for the first time, welcoming visitors from the southern region to participate and learn about the research results at ASSC.

The Academia Sinica South Campus (ASSC) officially completed its construction and began operations in 2024. Located within the Shalun Smart Green Energy Science City and near the Tainan high-speed railway station, ASSC is surrounded by numerous academic and research institutions. Incorporating local talent and the unique regional environment, industry, and cultural resources, ASSC will build upon current resources from Academia Sinica and respond to new trends in socio-economic and academic development as well as global climate change. Emphasis will be placed on research in agricultural biotechnology, quantum technology, zero carbon sustainability, and in the humanities and social sciences.
The Academia Sinica South Campus looks forward to developing characteristic research fields in the south and stimulate innovative thinking in agriculture, environment, culture and other research fields. By making the most of the regional advantages, ASSC will actively recruit talent from both domestic and international sources to enhance research and talent cultivation in Taiwan’s southern region. This will drive the continued development of industries, foster a cluster effect, implement technology in various industries, ultimately elevating the high-tech industries in southern Taiwan.
