Bacteria existing in our gastrointestinal track play an important role in numerous physio- and pathological processes. This talk will provide examples to demonstrate harmful and beneficial aspects of gut bacteria. Also we will explain how cell surface carbohydrates represent a critical factor to connect between gut microbes and the human host.
