Infrared light has important applications in remote sensing, communication, and military use. However, currently the costs of transmitting and receiving devices are high as a result of the manufacturing process and materials used. Therefore, we set out to develop laser-based fabrication processes to produce high-quality Ge and GeSn layers on Si substrate, so as to substantially reduce the cost and raise the performance.
