Archaeologists piece together what lives were like for prehistoric human beings through potsherds after potsherds unearthed at excavation sites. The wealth in the types of patterned ornaments on pottery reflects the artistic aestheticism and spirituality in the lives of prehistoric humans. This activity will give an overview of Taiwan’s archaeological sites and the peculiar pattered ornaments of Lapita pottery of the Pacific region, as well as offer a glimpse of prehistoric lives through these ornaments. In addition, participants will have hands-on experience by creating individualized rubbings combining various patterned ornaments.
The maximum capacity of each session is 30 people. Distribution of experience vouchers will begin at 8:30AM on the day of the event. Each person should take only one voucher, which is valid for one session. Voucher-holding visitors should report to the venue (Building for Taiwan Archaeological Studies) 10 minutes prior to the start of each session.
